Stuttgart – Maria Sharapova successfully defended the title the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in 2013, after a convincing win, 6-4 and 6-3 over Li Na in the final.
In four matches in the tournament to the top of the party, held at the clay court, Sharapova past his opponents to win three sets.
Only later in the final at the Porsche Arena on Sunday (04/28/2013), Sharapova convincing to retain the title with a straight sets victory over Li Na, the Australian Open and set aside Sharapova in the semifinals – Li Na finally finished runner -up in the event.
In the first set, Sharapova, who is seeded first, quickly winning 4-1. Li Na, seeded second, then tried to get up, although Sharapova did not give him much chance to catch up.
Fierce duel ensued at the beginning of the second set. But again, Sharapova managed to demonstrate its superiority over Li Na and won her second title of the year – after Indian Wells last March.
Stuttgart – Petra Kvitova qualify for the second round of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix after defeating Annika Beck. Meanwhile, Caroline Wozniacki could not go far because immediately foundered.
Facing Beck at Porsche Arena on Wednesday (24/04/2013), Kvitova had to fight hard. The fifth seed eventually won after a long fight three sets in 2 hours 26 minutes. He won 7-5, 6-7, and 6-3.
Kvitova will face opponents in the second half is Julia Goerges or Kirsten Flipkens.
Wozniacki suffered misfortune. Former world number one tennis player must immediately lift the suitcase after defeated Carla Suarez Navarro 6-7, 1-6.
In other matches, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova won the duel fellow Russian. Pavlyuchenkova beat Ekaterina Makarova 6-7, 7-5, 6-4 in the second round and will challenge third seed Angelique Kerber.
Lucie Safarova also advanced to the second round after beating Mona Barthel 6-4, 6-1. Safarova will fight defending champion Maria Sharapova in the second round.
